Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice: A Very Short Review

Set in the early s, in the fictional town of Merton, live the Bennett family, who are comfortably well off with a family of five daughters. However, there is one misfortune - there is no son. Although it must have been possible to change the will so the women could inherit, it would ruin the story. Therefore Mrs Bennett, their silly empty-headed mother, is obsessed with marrying them off. The daughters are: 22 year old Jane, the most beautiful young woman in the neighbourhood, who is sweet, kind and sensible but thinks well of everyone and is rather naive.

She was born in Hampshire in England 16 December She was the youngest child in a family of seven children. Her father was a country parson and he encouraged Jane to read and write. When she was only fourteen years old Jane started to take interest in writing. She came from a wealthy home and they moved around a lot in the south of England. Jane grew up in a safe England all though there was the France revolution in Europe. The year of Jane's family moved to Bath, were her father, died four years later.
